Home!

Happy to be home!

It feels good to be home. Really good.

My hometown has a population of less than 100 people, which is pretty damn small. Despite it’s size, there is still a lot to explore and discover.

I went for a walk to a couple of the beaches that I enjoyed playing on as a kid. Found a few crabs, a dying jellyfish that I put back into the water, sea urchins, and a vast amount of periwinkles. Having flashbacks of playing “house” on the beach with my sisters when we were little brought a smile to my face.

It’s a bittersweet feeling being home. I’m very happy and full of joy that I’m able to visit my family… However… it also tugs at my heartstrings and makes me tear up a little that I won’t be back home again for a while. Leaving and saying goodbye isn’t going to be easy for me, but it’s a part of life and worth it for the adventure that awaits. I can always come back and visit whenever I feel like it… so that’s a very comforting thought. Gah! I’m excited and sad at the same time!

Worn down wharf

I’m leaving in a few hours to head towards Argentia. The ferry leaves port at 5pm and my super awesome mum has offered to drive me there. I’m really glad that my parents are being supportive and helping me with this adventure. I know it’s hard for them to accept that I’m leaving, and they’re going to worry a lot, but I’m sure they trust me and realize that I’m more than capable of taking care of myself. I better go make sure I have everything packed and ready to go! Until next time…
